About Podcasts

What is a podcast?

<

p>A podcast is commonly defined as a radio-style multimedia file distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. Although podcasters function web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital audio formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading feed formats such as RSS or Atom. While an audio file can be downloaded individually, a group of audio files linked by a subscription feed is a podcast.

How do I listen?

The Seminary website offers several ways to listen to our podcast content.

  • iTunes
Our podcasts are listed in the iTunes Store podcast directory, the world's largest collection of podcasts. You can find our podcasts by doing a search in the iTunes Store, or by clicking the iTunes subscribe graphic on each podcast's information page right here on our website.
  • Podcast Feed
If you use the RSS feed associated with each podcast, you can set your podcatcher software to automatically update whenever a new episode is posted. You can also subscribe via the iTunes Store.
  • Flash Player
Each audio page has a small play button. If you click the button, the audio file will begin to play. Note also the option of launching a popup player in a separate window. This is useful if you want to continue to play a file after you have navigated away from the Seminary website.
  • Direct Download
You are also free to download a copy of the file to keep on your personal computer and play it in the media player of your choice.
  • Streaming Playlists
Also is an M3U playlist format. Clicking on the M3U playlist link allows a user to open that playlist in their favorite media player and stream the audio to their computer.
