STM and MAR Written Exam Procedures
The candidate will have contacted the chairman of the department in his area of concentration and requested the appointment of an advisor. The advisor is chosen by the department.
When the candidate applies for an examination the advisor will consult with the registrar to determine whether the candidate has enough credits.

When the candidate applies for an examination the advisor will consult with the registrar to determine whether the candidate has enough credits. - If the course requirements have been met, the advisor will solicit suggestions from those in whose courses the student has earned credits as to the areas upon which the candidate should concentrate in reviewing his course material before writing the examination. This information is to be forwarded to the candidate by the advisor.
- Prior to the examination instructors whose courses were part of the student’s program submit a question or questions from their courses for use in the examination. This information is not shared with the candidate. The examination should be of a nature that it can be completed in three hours. One-half of the examination should be devoted to courses in the student’s area of concentration.
- The candidate and his advisor will agree upon a time for the examination.
- The advisor will prepare the test sheets for the candidate and provide duplicated copies of any required biblical texts in the original languages. He will administer the test personally or through a proctor.
- The respective instructors will grade their portion of the examination and report the grade to the advisor. The examination paper is not returned to the candidate.
A B average in the examination is the minimum requirement for the granting of the degree. - The advisor will inform the registrar and the candidate of the composite grade.
The advisor will recommend to the faculty that the degree be granted.
The examination must be completed at least 45 days before the graduation service in which the degree is to be conferred. - The advisor is to inform the candidate of the $25 graduation fee.
