Pastor Ron Muetzel, vice president of donor relations for Time of Grace Ministry, and Roger Crawford, WELS human resources director, led a financial seminar on Thursday, May 8, for second year students. Building on information presented to them during their junior year, Pastor Muetzel offered continuing guidance on debt solutions, money management, and life insurance needs.
The seminar also covered information pertaining specifically to the students’ upcoming vicar year. Salary, insurance coverage, WELS human resources procedures, and other legalities were addressed by Mr. Crawford in preparation for the students’ move into congregations this August.
On Friday, May 9, Pastor Muetzel also presented a seminar for seniors. "Pastors face complex financial issues, usually with limited resources. In the financial seminars we attempt to equip these future pastors to do better budgeting, avoid bad debt, make wise insurance purchases, understand clergy taxes and get started on retirement investing. All the presentations operate on the assumption that whatever wealth we have is really God's money. We encourage healthy, godly attitudes toward money and wealth."
