Mission and Ministry

The 2008 Mission and Ministry Seminar was held on January 29-31. Organized by student leaders and presented in conjunction with the Boards for Home and World Missions and the Board for Parish Services, the seminar inspires, encourages, and equips students for future ministry opportunities.

The three-day event opened with a worship service. WELS President Mark Schroeder delivered a sermon based on the seminar theme Mark 16:15, “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’”

Over 30 pastors, teachers, administrators, and laymen made presentations exploring the variety of practical ways the church of the 21st century carries out the Great Commission. This year’s theme “Go, Gospel Outreach” was examined from one of three aspects on each of the days, “Go, supplying our needs,” “Go to our neighbors,” and “Go to the nations.”
