Classes begin
Seminary students, faculty, and staff gathered on August 27 for our opening service. Professor Forrest Bivens, WLS Vice-President, presided over the worship service based on Acts 1:8, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Professor Richard Gurgel focused his sermon message on Ephesians 3:14-21 under the theme, “Are you praying for God to do the impossible on this hill?”
We welcome 46 juniors, 47 middlers, and 41 seniors to campus, while 40 men are serving a vicar year in congregations. Please keep these men and their families in your prayers as they study God’s word.
Changes in the teaching faculty include the departure of Professor Mark Zarling, now serving as president of Martin Luther College, and the addition of Pastor Mike Quandt as professor of Christian Education. Please pray for these men and their families as they assume their new responsibilities.
