Financial aid

The seminary made its fall distribution of financial aid, with grants totaling $173,500. The average award was $1,972 per student. This is an increase of $365 per student over last year’s fall distribution (up by 23%). Another major distribution of financial aid is scheduled for early February.

It should be noted that the financial aid distributed by the WLS scholarship fund represents only a portion of what students receive. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to foundations such as Siebert and Salem as well as to other scholarship funds and to many congregations within our synod for supplementing what we do.

In the 2006-2007 fiscal year, churches, individuals, and organizations gave $375,575 for student aid. For the 2007-2008 fiscal year, gifts in the amount of $324,296 were immediately available for distribution, while $322,323 was given in permanently restricted gifts. These gifts totaled $646,619, an increase of over 170% from last year.

We thank God for the gifts of love his people continue to give.
