Financial seminar for new students

Pastor Ron Muetzel, vice-president of institutional advancement and church relations at Wisconsin Lutheran College, led a financial seminar on Friday, September 7, for first year students. Pastor Muetzel addressed topics such as personal budgeting, debt and money management, insurance, taxes, and retirement planning.

As the percentage of Americans living with massive debt continues to increase, and since poor money management habits are common, the WELS Conference of Presidents feels it is necessary to teach good money management habits to men preparing for the public ministry. Professor Forrest Bivens, our Financial Aid Committee chairman states, “Healthy attitudes and cultivation of techniques serve the students while at school and then in the ministry, for themselves and for members who need help or counseling on finances.”
