Friends gathered at seminary
The Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Auxiliary hosted its annual Friends of the Seminary Day on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
The day began with registration, coffee fellowship, and worship with the seminary chorus. Our preacher for the day was Prof. John Brug who reminded us that “it takes a village to raise a pastor.” He thanked auxiliary members for their role in preparing the next generation of pastors through their encouragement, their prayers, and their gifts of love.
Following the worship service a brief business meeting allocated auxiliary gifts to selected 2009-2010 projects.
Presentations from faculty and students are always the highlight of the day. Professor Brug shared experiences from his travels as a visiting professor. Prof. Brug has taught at six of our sister seminaries: Ukraine, Hong Kong, Sweden, Germany, and Zambia.
Seminarian Frank Rose spoke about living and working in Southeast Asia. Following his graduation from Martin Luther College, and prior to coming to the seminary, Rose and his wife spent a year teaching English there.
Since 1973 the auxiliary has encouraged project and prayer support for the mission of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. Material and scholarship projects are funded by the gifts of congregations and individuals. Since 1973, more than $118,800 has been given through WLS Auxiliary.
We are thankful for the continuing partnership with members of WLS Auxiliary — our extended seminary family. All WELS members, men and women, are invited to participate.
