Prof. James Tiefel in Africa

Prof. James P. Tiefel recently taught a course on public worship at the seminary of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa (LCCA) in Lusaka, Zambia.

From July 23 - July 27, Tiefel led approximately 50 national pastors and expatriate missionaries from Zambia and Malawi in a course designed to aid pastors of the LCCA in planning and leading worship in their congregations. On the weekends before and after his teaching assignment, he worshipped in several Zambian congregations and observed the similarities and differences of African worship practices from those in the United States. The Committee on Worship of the LCCA (with representatives from both the Zambian and Malawian fields) plan to continue working on worship-related projects with the continued assistance and guidance of Tiefel via e-mail.
