Programs of Study

The Scriptures tell us that if anyone desires to serve as a “bishop” or pastor, he desires a good thing (1 Timothy 3:1). It is the task and privilege of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary to train men to serve as pastors in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). By far, most men who want to become pastors in the WELS begin their pastoral training at Martin Luther College (MLC) in New Ulm, Minnesota and then proceed to the seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin. Upon successful completion of the program at MLC, men earn a Bachelor of Arts. Upon their completion of the program at WLS, men earn a Masters of Divinity (MDiv).
