Heaven and Hell
Often we don’t appreciate or ponder all that Scripture says about our heavenly home. Nor do we fully realize what God says about the punishment that awaits an unbeliever. This course explores what God’s Word says about heaven and hell. It also covers “halfway houses” to heaven, such as purgatory and limbo as well as how various world religions view the afterlife.

Bioethics – Speaking the Truth in Love through the Life Science
Medical science has made great advancements in recent decades. This presents the pastor and his people will many different moral and ethical issues that previous generations didn’t face. What does God say about birth control? Is it okay to pursue assisted reproductive technology? What is therapeutic cloning all about? This course begins with the biblical principles and then applies them to the various life sciences such as abortion, birth control, cloning, sexually transmitted diseases, and assisted reproductive technology, and genetic therapies. The goal is to equip the pastor to help members make God-pleasing decisions in these difficult areas.

Angels and Demons
With "Spiritual Warfare" getting considerable attention in religious circles this course takes a detailed, scriptural look at angels and their fallen counterparts, demons. It also evaluates practical areas such as the renewed interest in angels in our present society as well as various forms of the occult. Above all, it focuses on the tools God gives us to fight Satan's influence, confident that through Christ the devil has been defeated.

Pastoral Care for the Sick and Dying - End of Life Decisions and Dilemma
Medical decisions today can be complex and difficult. This course will look at some of the factors that have brought about the present situation in medecine and how it affects the pastor and his members. It will consider some scriptural principles and apply them to typical situations the pastor may face as he seeks to make God-pleasing decisions. Areas that are covered include physician-assisted suicide, the right to die movement, and advance directives.

The Doctrine and Practice of Marriage
In this course we will explore the matter of engagement and betrothal, and also consider how God establishes and blesses a marriage. Alternate lifestyles such as the live-in arrangement, gay relationships, and polygamy are also considered. Finally we will also look at unique but common situations such a single parent families and blended families.

The Sacrament of Baptism
What historical support is there for infant baptism? Is baptism the only means of grace for infants? What support does Scripture give for the saving power of baptism? What do other churches teach regarding the sacrament of baptism? These are only a few of the questions we will explore in this course on baptism. We will also give attention to the practical application of this sacrament in our ministry and the importance it plays in our life and the life of our members.

Grief Counseling with a Cross-Cultural Emphasis
There are many things that we grieve in life. This course looks at grief from many angles but especially at the grieving that results from the death of a loved one. It also views the grieving process from the perspective of various cultures that are represented in the United States and around the world. But more than just exploring the matter of grief, this course offers a model for grief counseling designed to help pastors in this common area of ministry.

Pastoral Leadership
What is leadership all about, especially in the pastoral ministry? There is much written about this subject today. This course will look at biblical models for leadership as well as biblical principles of leadership. Then it will consider how we can apply these principles to pastoral ministry in a practical manner.
