Paul Zell

A list of satellite courses offered by Prof. Paul Zell:

Exegesis of Colossians
It is difficult to get a firm handle on the so-called “Colossian heresy.” It is not difficult at all, however, to be enriched by reading the epistle in which St. Paul takes his readers above and beyond any attempt to diminish the person and work of Jesus Christ. He is head over all creation for the benefit of his body, the church, which means that he is sufficient for all humanity’s needs in time and eternity. During each session we will carefully study a portion of this letter to the Colossians on the basis of the Greek. Our goal is that exegetical skills are renewed and that rich Christology is uncovered for personal encouragement and bold proclamation to all.

Exegetical Studies of St. Matthew (nine different course options)
The most widely read of the four Gospels. The bridge from the Old Testament to the New. Prophecies fulfilled. Mighty miracles performed. Memorable parables told. Hypocrisy exposed. Pure hearts and holy living motivated and directed. The Great Commission. Jesus the Messiah, the King. The Holy Spirit has developed so many compelling themes in the Gospel according to St. Matthew that the believer will return to it again and again.
Whether the participants desire a satellite summer quarter course (for credit) or a pastors’ institute, they may opt for a thorough study of any 3-, 4-, or 5-chapter portion of St. Matthew. Their entire selection would be read in the Greek, with a more concerted exegetical effort devoted to the Series A pericope texts. Proficiency in koine Greek is renewed through daily reading and translation assignments, with the greater objective that participants mine gems of eternal truth for their own enrichment and for sharing with their congregations.
