Exegesis of Jeremiah

Instructor: Kenneth Cherney

Description:
As the core institutions of his society were crumbling into ruins, in the face of looming national disaster, the prophet Jeremiah is sent to proclaim the only message capable of giving God’s people hope—and he is warned in advance that practically nobody will listen. This course will survey this crucial period in Judahite history and the message of judgment and deliverance that Jeremiah was sent to proclaim. Selected portions will be read in Hebrew with the remainder in English. Special attention to the book’s structure, the prophet’s language and rhetorical strategies, and his intensely personal struggles with the Lord who sent him. Hebrew required.
